OctoFetch Privacy Policy
Last updated: 26 October 2026 (settings also kept in Telegram's device storage)
OctoFetch is a Telegram bot and Mini App that helps you browse and send files from
Google Drive and Dropbox folders and iCloud shared albums that are shared by link.
What we store
- Your Telegram user ID and first name, so the bot knows you're signed up.
- The folder link you're currently browsing, and your last 2 folders (link and folder name), so you can reopen them.
- Folders you star as favorites (up to 5; link and folder name), until you unstar them.
- For your recent and favorite folders: short fingerprints of the file IDs that were there when you last opened them (not file names or contents), so we can show what's new since then.
- Folders you watch for new files with 🔔 (up to 2): the link, folder name, short fingerprints of the file IDs already seen (not file names or contents) and the IDs of the newest files, so the bot can tell you when something new arrives. Turn it off any time.
- If you share a folder or file (by typing @OctoFetch_bot in a chat, or with a Share button in the app):
a random share code for that folder (up to 90 days), so the people you share it with can open it. The folder
link itself is never posted in the chat. A shared file is first sent to your own chat with the bot, then
Telegram passes that copy on to the chat you pick.
- If you share a folder to your Telegram Story: we make a picture card (up to 4 photo thumbnails from the
folder, its name and a QR code with a share code). The card sits at a random, unlisted link for 15 minutes so
Telegram can load it into the Story editor, then it's deleted. Whatever you post is up to you and your Story audience.
- Your language, only if you pick one with
/language or in Settings (otherwise we just follow your Telegram app's language).
- How many people joined through each referral link (totals only, not who; a short fingerprint of your user ID is kept only so you're counted once).
- How many people added OctoFetch to their phone's home screen (a total; a short fingerprint of your user ID is kept only so you're counted once).
What we don't store
- Your files. They pass through OctoFetch on their way to your Telegram chat, or to the app when you
preview a photo, play a video or see a folder's cover photos, or to your phone when you tap Save (through a
private link that stops working after 15 minutes), and aren't saved. Small thumbnails are held in
the server's memory for a while so they load faster; they're never written to disk and are gone on restart.
- Payment details. Tips use Telegram Stars and are handled entirely by Telegram.
- Your messages. The bot only reads commands and links you send it.
Saved on your device
A few app settings are saved only in the Telegram app on your phone or computer, not on our server: your sort
order, whether Blur and Full quality are on, fullscreen on or off, which one-time tips you've seen, how many times
you've opened the app (to decide when to suggest adding it to your home screen), and whether your phone can play
certain videos. They're kept in the app's web storage and, on newer Telegram versions, also in Telegram's own
device storage, so they survive when the app's web storage is cleared. Whether you've seen the welcome tour is saved with Telegram (CloudStorage), tied to your account.
Who else sees data
- Google, Dropbox and Apple (iCloud) receive requests for the shared folders and albums you open.
- If you use payment help (
/paysupport or the form in the app), your message, name and
Telegram username go to the bot owner so they can reply.
Deleting your data
Send /stop to the bot, or tap Sign out in the app's Settings. That deletes your
name, current folder, recent folders, favorites, watched folders, "new file" fingerprints, share codes and language choice right away.
